Chess players of Rosseti Volga won M.M. Botvinnik tournament

Specialists of Rosseti Volga (brand of IDGC of Volga, PJSC) became three-time champions of the IX open tournament of power engineers, dedicated to the memory of the sixth world chess champion, scientist and grandmaster Mikhail Botvinnik.

This year, 38 teams competed for the main prize of the tournament. In competitions, in addition to the subsidiaries and affiliates of Rosseti PJSC and the subsidiaries and affiliates of PJSC FGC UES, teams of energy sales organizations, equipment manufacturers, and teams of energy universities also competed for prizes. The tournament was held according to the FIDE rules for rapid chess in the Swiss system in seven rounds. Volga chess players from the first round went into the lead and did not miss it until the end of the tournament. This time the victory was won with a significant advantage over the silver medalist, the team of IDGC of Siberia.

Now the chess players of Rosseti Volga will have to defend the honor of Rosseti PJSC in the competitions of the strongest teams that are members of the fuel and energy complex of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, which will be held on December 8 in Moscow at the V. Dvorkovich Chess Hall. In the competitions held by Rosseti PJSC, the chess tournament is traditionally the final stage. This year, Rosseta Volga sportsmen managed to win four gold medals in skiing, athletics, swimming and chess competitions, as well as two silver medals in table tennis and volleyball.
