S1.jpgince the beginning of current year, employees of the electricity balance and metering groups of Saratov Distribution Grids, a branch of IDGC of Volga, PJSC (a member of the Rosseti group), have detected more than 300 cases of illegally consumed electric power with a total volume of 2.3 million kWh. The company was caused more than 10 million rubles in damages.

Another raid by the staff of the Pravoberezhny PD of the branch was conducted in the village of Dubki, Saratov region. Dozens of houses have been bypassed in several hours by power engineers with the only purpose – to find unconscientious consumers of electricity.

- Scratches on the wiring plugs – a sign that they could "surge" the wires in an attempt to deceive the "supply meter" and thus save money, – pointing to the suspicious tracks on the meter, says Oleg Beloedov, the leading engineer in the field of operation of metering equipment. – The violators have so many tricks in mind: magnets, surges, sockets installed before the electricity supply meter, various devices.

Meanwhile, the electricity stealing causes damage not only to the power grid company - good citizens, regularly paying bills for electricity are also suffering. 2.jpgAs a result of illegal connections, there are voltage fluctuations in the network, household appliances are getting out of order, the probability of power outages and cases of fire is increasing.

According to Dmitry Krokhmal, Deputy Director for Electricity Sales at the Pravoberezhny PD of the Saratov branch of the company, measures to identify incidents of unaccounted and non-contractual consumption are conducted on an ongoing basis, during the raids, IDGC of Volga, PJSC employees always conduct explanatory work, tell residents how an attempt to save up can lead to the additional costs.

In accordance with Art. 7.19 of Administrative Code, power stealers will get a fine of 10 to 15 thousand rubles and a bill for a large check (the consumer will pay electric power bill not according to the meter, but by a standard rate with a tenfold increase). For particularly large stealing - imprisonment for up to two years.

One of the effective measures that the power industry uses to reduce illegal electricity consumption is the installation of remote metering devices. At the moment, 5,000 consumers have "smart" meters in the Saratov Pravoberezhje. Meter reading from them can be checked remotely. This makes it possible to accurately record the amount of electricity consumed and the grid parameters – electricity stealing is excluded with such meters.
